From Questions to Clarity

A focused, AI-augmented research process that reveals what's blocking your users — and gives your team a clear path forward.

How It Works

Discovery

We start with a 30-minute kickoff call to understand your business goals, the specific question you need answered, and the users we need to hear from. This isn't a generic intake form — it's a working session. Before the call, we review whatever you're willing to share: analytics, support tickets, previous research. We show up with context, not a blank notebook.

We pressure-test the research question together, because the question you start with isn't always the one that will produce the most actionable findings. By the end, we've defined the research focus, identified the right user profiles, confirmed the engagement type, and locked the timeline. You'll know exactly what happens next and why.

Research

Depending on your engagement, we conduct an expert heuristic evaluation of your product, a WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility audit, or both. For the UX Growth Sprint, AI-enhanced pattern recognition and expert synthesis deliver rigorous qualitative research at a fraction of the time traditional methods require. For the Accessibility Audit, we apply a three-layer methodology: automated analysis with Axe DevTools and WAVE, and structured manual testing of critical user paths.

We're looking for what's actually happening, not confirmation of what you may already suspect. Internal teams often lack the outside perspective to identify what, specifically, is causing issues. We provide both.

Illumination

We present findings in a live 60-minute readout — not a slide deck drop in your inbox. You'll see key insights, the evidence behind them, and specific, prioritized recommendations tied to business impact. You leave with a written findings report, a prioritized remediation roadmap, and — for accessibility engagements — a WCAG failure inventory with implementation guidance your engineering team can act on immediately.

No jargon, no hedging, no "it depends" without a reason. If the finding is significant, we'll tell you plainly. If a recommendation requires tradeoffs, we'll name them. You'll leave the readout knowing what to do next.

Why AI-Augmented Research?

Most UX research takes weeks because the analysis is manual: hours of transcript review, sticky note affinity mapping, synthesis by hand. We use AI to handle the pattern recognition layer — surfacing themes across transcripts, flagging accessibility failures, drafting initial finding clusters — so the human expertise goes where it matters most: interpreting what the findings mean for your specific product and business context.

The result is research-quality insight delivered in two weeks, at a price point that makes sense for organizations that need research-quality insight without the overhead of a full-time researcher or an enterprise agency engagement.

This isn't AI replacing judgment. It's AI handling the parts that don't require it.

AI changed what research consultants do.
It didn't change what good research requires.

Tasks that once justified consultant hours — secondary research synthesis, heuristic checklists, competitor summaries — can now be done in minutes. That work is no longer where the value lies.

What AI cannot do is observe a real user struggling with a real product and understand why, ask the follow-up question that changes everything, or distinguish signal from noise in the context of your specific goals and organizational context.

In a world where anyone can generate answers, the advantage comes from asking the right questions and knowing which answers to trust.

Who This Is For

LumenUXR engagements are designed for organizations that have a specific question they need answered — not open-ended research briefs. The right fit is usually one of these:

  • An adaptive sport or Paralympic organization whose digital presence doesn't yet reflect its commitment to inclusion

  • A disability inclusion nonprofit whose website, program portal, or resource library creates barriers for the people it exists to serve

  • A healthcare organization serving patients who are more likely than average to rely on assistive technology

If you're not sure whether your situation is the right fit, the discovery call is the place to find out. It's free and there's no commitment.

A Note on What We DON'T Do

LumenUXR doesn't offer open retainers, general UX consulting, or multi-month discovery engagements. Every service is scoped to deliver one clear outcome in a defined timeframe. If your situation needs something different, we'll tell you in the first call.
